By the Reverend David George Biles.

David George Biles (born 1935, Surrey) received his initial theological education at King’s College, London. He was ordained in 1959, at Durham Cathedral, and priested in the same place in 1960.
He served in the parishes of Cockerton, Durham (Curate, 1959 – 62), Winlayton, Durham (Curate, 1962 – 1967), Dipton, Durham (Vicar, 1967 – 1974), Wolviston, Durham (Rector, 1974 – 1989), and the ‘White Horse Parishes’, Thirkleby, with Kilburn and Bagby, York (Vicar and Rural Dean, 1989 – 2001).
The sermons published here are all written post-retirement, and preached in parish churches in and around the City of York, North Yorkshire, and the East Riding of Yorkshire.
The final page in this series of pamphlets is a scan of the first page of the first sermon included in each of the books 1-5. The original sermons were hand-written on A4 pieces of scrap paper, torn in half.
Mostly only the latest versions of the sermons have been kept, so there is usually one per Sunday, throughout the Church Year. Sometimes, perhaps where cover for a Sunday was not required, there are missing weeks and, in some cases, duplicates.
There has been no selection; all the sermons that remain are published in these volumes.
